Hi, welcome to my blog called Being Plum. My name is Tanya and I'm a blogger from Johannesburg, South Africa. I found the story dragged quite a bit and I wasn’t hooked at all. But, if you like stories involving Greek gods, nymphs and olympians - especially stories with a female protagonist, who happens to also be a witch - then this is for you. Circe is the daughter of the sun god, Helios, and she is exiled by Zeus to an island after she does a dark spell. On the island she meets many interesting characters, falls in love, has to protect herself, and learns many new spells as well as valuable life lessons. Bravo @authordeliaowens 👏🏻 This is by far on Bravo @authordeliaowens 👏🏻 This is by far one of the most amazing stories I have ever read. I picked up this book last night and read 25 pages before bed, and picked it up again this morning, having just finished it now. I have never been so emotional reading a story and finished this book in tears. I now understand why so many people have recommended it. It’s about Kya, who was abandoned by her entire family as a small child, including her abusive and alcoholic father. She fended for herself and lived in the marsh, never attending school or learning to read and write, until Tate, a young boy spent time teaching her to read and gave her textbooks to learn from. Growing up she was further abandoned by people she loved and trusted, and ends up in a murder trial - where she doesn’t stand a chance of not being prejudiced in America in the 60s - for being so different.
